Q: If I don't live in Alaska, am I still able to work at St. Therese’s Camp?
A: YES! While we have had many Alaskan counselors, we have also had many counselors come from out of state.
Q: If I am travelling from out of state, does the camp pay for my plane ticket?
A: The camp does not cover the cost of travel.
Q: If I am flying into Alaska, which airport will I fly into?
A: You will fly into the Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage. The airport is an hour away from camp and we will provide transportation from the airport to camp when you arrive. Most summer flights arrive between 11:00pm and 1:00am, but we expect this and have no problem picking you up at any time throughout the night.
Q: Is the camp in a remote location?
A: We are located on the border of the towns of Palmer and Wasilla. This means that we have access to Walmart, grocery stores, gas stations, thrift stores, coffee shops, urgent care, and many other comforts within 15 minutes of camp. We also have cell phone service and access to wifi on camp and in the surrounding area.
Q: How many stamps do I need to send mail to my friends and family in the Lower 48?
A: You will only need one stamp to send a letter to your friends and family back home.
Q: What are some things I should expect during the week off?
A: Here are a few things we think would be helpful to know about our week off in the middle of the summer:

Q: What are some things I should expect during the week off?
A: Here are a few things we think would be helpful to know about our week off in the middle of the summer:
- The entire staff will have a week off in the middle of the camp season. This is a great opportunity to explore new places around the state of Alaska and share experiences with other staff members.
- The camp provides a 15 passenger van for the staff to use during their week off. Staff does not have to pay a rental fee for the use of the van, but will be required to cover the cost of gas (this is usually not a large expense as it is divided between 10-15 people).
- Staff is responsible for making lodging accommodations. There are many tent camping sites, public use cabins, hostels, and AirBnbs across the state that former staff members have found to be a comfortable and restful experience. If you choose to tent camp, St. Therese’s Camp has tents and sleeping bags that you may borrow.
- Staff has previously spent time during their week off in towns such as Homer, Seward, Kenai, Talkeetna, Hope, Girdwood, Anchorage, and Palmer. Each summer, the community of staff will work together to plan destinations that will allow everyone in the community to rest well.
