What? The Counselor in Training Program is a two week program for high schoolers with pillars in Prayer, Service, and Leadership. CIT's will receive spiritual formation, opportunities to grow in leadership by assisting counselors with activity stations and winners circle, and serve the camp by assisting in the kitchen with dishes and mealtime set-up and clean up.
|
WHY?The Counselor in Training program enables teens to deepen their faith, live in community, and gives insight into what it is like to serve as a counselor and minister. Our hope is to provide an opportunity for teens to discern if counseling is in their future, while still giving them a time of fun, faith, and friends!
|
COST?The cost for this program is $80 per 2 week session.
This cost enables us to bring on an extra staff member to help coordinate this program, This new program gives CIT's a lot of formation and leadership experience, and is more than just a service opportunity. |

HOW AND WHEN WILL THEY BE SELECTED FOR SESSIONS?
- After applications close, camp personnel will look at everyone’s selected availability and assign weeks. Parents will be notified of their child’s session assignment on March 3, 2025. Each week will have 10 camp helpers - 5 boys and 5 girls.
SESSION THREE IS ONLY ONE WEEK - WHAT'S THAT ABOUT?
- Because we have an odd number of weeks, session 3 (June 29-July 4) will be unique in the sense that it will only be one week. CIT's will still receive formation and spiritual programming unique to this session.
- CIT'S may return for session three as well as a typical two week session. Invitations for this session will be based on availability and a strong application and references.
REFERENCES?
- All applicants must submit two references, including applicants who have previously participated in the camp helper program.
INTERVIEW PROCESS?
- After the application deadline (February 14), camp personnel will contact you about scheduling a 5-10 minute interview. This will contribute to our pillar of leadership, giving applicants an opportunity to experience an interview and speak to their strengths and weaknesses.
NO PHONE POLICY
- In order to be more present and receptive to camp programming, we ask that all camp helpers leave their phones at home or turn them into camp personnel upon arrival. Any phones brought to camp will be held by camp personnel and returned at the end of the week.
“CAN MY KID LEAVE FOR APPOINTMENTS, SPORTING EVENTS, ETC”
- CIT's are expected to remain on camp property and participate in all scheduled activities. Please consider any scheduling conflicts (such as appointments, sporting events, etc) before selecting availability in your application.
